A Summer Table For Two - With Mette Harning Oil Lamps

We really enjoy dining outdoors during the summer. And we love a beautiful table. It makes dining a even greater joy. Setting a summer table for two is a easy task with a folded - Scandinavian vintage - tablecloth and a single flower from the garden.

Front oil lamp - ufo like - is of unknown origin

With the days getting shorter - sundown at 9.15 p.m. - oil lamps comes handy for after dinner. I´ve been so lucky to find two Mette Harning oil lamps for a bargain. One of them is converted into a vase as it´s missing the part that holds the wick.

The roundness of the lamps makes me want to hold them in my palm. The soft glaze is wonderful to touch. And the overall look is so pleasant to the eyes.

I don´t know when Mette Harning made these oil lamps. They are so classic that they could have been made at any time. But based on what she´s been creating recently, these are older pieces, She is still active, has been so for 50 years and has her studio north of Copenhagen. I might drop by one day and ask her.
