Vintage Quality Versus Today

Much of the tablecloth I find in thrift stores and sell in my shop are from the - now closed - Danish discount department store Daells Varehus. But discount had a totally different meaning back then than today.

There is of course no doubt that they have been taken very well care of. But even with that I mind, I´m stroke by the good quality.

Let me throw an example. In my kitchen drawer I have some dish towels I bought in the same department store in the early 1980´s. They´ve been washed and washed, but are still in a good condition. I haven´t even thought about changing them for some new ones. If I would, I had to go to a linen store to get the same quality.

That´s not what you get in a discount department store today.

  2. I tend to prefer some things in vintage over new, for sure. One is cotton pillowcases, they just don't make them like they used to!

    1. You´re so right. They seem to last for ever.
